4 Tips for Small-Budget Content Marketing
Hi there,
Are you working with a small content marketing budget (less than $5k/month)?
Here are a few tips to help you succeed:
1. Skip the AI noise
If you don’t have a big budget for content marketing, it might be tempting to focus on AI-generated content.
But you’ll likely have trouble making your content stand out if you go the AI route. More importantly, your customers deserve better.
Skip AI content for now, and focus on creating high-quality, human-produced content—even if it’s just a couple of content pieces per month.
2. Focus on fractional and freelance talent
With less than $5k/month to invest into content marketing, you’re unlikely to hire a full-time content marketing manager or Head of Content with a lot of experience.
You can get much more value by hiring a fractional content marketer to guide your content strategy for 5-10 hours per week.
And invest the rest into content created by freelance content creators.
3. Prioritize
Since you can’t afford to produce a lot of content with your budget, you’ll need to prioritize heavily.
Focus on creating content that has the highest chance of driving new customers for your business.
What kind of content this will be will depend heavily on your business and industry, but some common examples across industries include case studies, product roundups, and competitor comparison guides.
4. Don’t expect a miracle
Whatever industry you’re in, it’s likely that there are multiple big players investing heavily into content marketing.
So don’t expect that you’ll start outranking their content in search results any time soon.
Accept the fact that content marketing is a long-term game, and take it one step at a time.
Your first year should be about setting a healthy foundation from which you can then scale your content marketing efforts once you get access to a larger budget.
