8 Ways to Make Your Content Stand Out

Hey there,

You need to stop creating cookie-cutter content. Here’s how to make your content stand out:

1. Cover a unique angle

The web is full of copycat content which provides little to no value or new information to readers.

Stop doing what everyone else is doing and aim to cover a unique angle with your content.

This will help you stand out and give you a better chance to have your content seen and shared.

2. Incorporate your personal experiences

Talking about your personal experiences and relating them to the topic is a great way to keep readers engaged and interested in what you have to say.

It can also help to show why you’re relevant to talk on the topic and why readers should listen to your advice.

3. Include multiple perspectives

You should generally aim to show your unique point of view on a topic.

But, it can sometimes be helpful to readers to get multiple different perspectives so that they can make the right decision considering their unique set of circumstances.

One way to accomplish this is to play devil’s advocate and present a different perspective yourself.

Or, you can invite other industry experts to contribute their (often differing) opinions on the topic.

4. Answer every question

Try to think of every possible question a reader might have on the topic. Then, make sure your content answers all of them.

Aim to include all the possible information a reader might need to solve the problem they’re dealing with.

They shouldn’t have to do additional Google searches after reading your content because they should already know everything they need to know.

5. Add plenty of examples

Examples make it easier to demonstrate your points and help readers understand and implement your advice better.

Include plenty of examples throughout your content. And make sure they’re relevant and relatable for your audience.

6. Back up your claims with data

The phrase “trust me” can’t substitute actual, hard data.

Unless you’re the go-to source for information in your industry, you should back up your claims and advice with data.

Ideally, this should be first-party data that you’ve collected yourself. But, you can also use third-party data from reputable sources.

7. Use visuals

Visuals (such as graphs, charts, or infographics) can help you demonstrate complex concepts more effectively.

They also allow you to break up your content visually and keep readers engaged—no one wants to read a wall of text.

But make sure to include visuals only if they’re actually valuable to readers. Don’t add visuals to your content just for the sake of having them.

8. Make it easy to read

Think about who your readers are: how they think and how they speak. Use language that’s both relatable and easy for them to understand.

Be careful, though: making something easy to read doesn’t necessarily mean simplifying the language.

If you’re speaking to a very experienced or technical audience, being overly simplistic can come across as condescending.
